Sean began his studies in acupuncture and Oriental medicine in 1999 at Bastyr University. He interned at the Bastyr Center for Natural Health and at a variety of King County clinics. While there he received considerable training in pain management. He also completed a three-month externship at the Shanghai University of TCM and at Shuguang and Long Hua Hospitals in Shanghai, China specializing in gynecology, internal medicine, sleep disorders, and tuina. He graduated in March of 2003 with a Masters of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
Sean is designated a Diplomate in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbology from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine(NCCAOM). Upon graduation he volunteered at the Kang Wen clinic in Seattle. He has been a supervisor in the Chinese herbal dispensary at the Bastyr Center for Natural Health since 2003.
Sean worked for many years as a professional baker and chef before beginning formal studies in nutrition. He completed his Bachelors of Science in Nutrition at Bastyr University in June of 1998. Sean enjoys helping patients with dietary choices including where to shop, what to buy, meal planning, and cooking techniques. It is his belief that nutrition and diet are the cornerstone of a healthy lifestyle and crucial to long-term health. Specifically, he encourages people to eat with the seasons. There is no one perfect diet for everyone. He believes factors such as climate and personal constitution are important when considering food choices.
Sean completed his massage education at the Brenneke School of Massage in September of 2000. He incorporates elements of Swedish massage, Deep Tissue, and Chinese tuina massage into his practice.
